Message from the Board & CEO
2024: A Year of Progress, Resilience, and Transformation

We often say a year was “like no other,” but for MNP Community & Sport Centre, 2024 truly was. While remarkable results were achieved, the year will also be remembered for the early season water restrictions and the operational shifts that came with the groundbreaking of a major construction project.

Through it all, the Centre stood strong.

Among our many achievements were exciting developments on the Leisure Expansion Aquatics Project (LEAP), a surge in membership sales, proud moments celebrating our athletes at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, and hosting both the largest-ever 10 Mile Triathlon and Fit Fest. We also completed key infrastructure upgrades, maintained high satisfaction levels among customers and staff, and played a meaningful role in numerous community events.

That’s the hallmark of MNP Community & Sport Centre—no matter what challenges a year may bring, our team stays focused on delivering against our core strategic pillars: Growth Readiness, Program & Service Optimization, Legendary Experience, People & Culture, and Business Sustainability, and these pillars fuel our mission: Passionate about Sport, People, and Community.
Of course, success doesn’t happen by chance. It takes a committed Board of Governors and an exceptional team of employees to navigate obstacles and seize opportunities. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the LPSS Board of Governors for their leadership, and to every member of our staff for their unwavering dedication. Together, they deliver a world-class experience in a truly world-class facility.
And while 2024 had its ups and downs, it will ultimately be remembered for one transformative milestone: breaking ground on the nearly $90 million LEAP project. Funded by the Province of Alberta, the City of Calgary, corporate supporters, individual donors, and Centre-generated revenue, this long-awaited initiative is now underway. After eight years of planning, engagement, and fundraising, LEAP is finally becoming a reality. Once complete, it will introduce exciting new features, including leisure water attractions, a universal changeroom, and a vibrant community hub—solidifying our place as one of the largest and most dynamic recreation and sport facilities in Canada.
Looking ahead to 2025, we remain laser-focused on keeping the LEAP project on track, while continuing to support our members, sport partners, guests, and employees with the care and excellence they deserve.
In closing, we extend sincere gratitude to the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta, MNP LLP, our members, partners, guests, employees, and all stakeholders. Your support helped make 2024 a year to remember.
Here’s to continuing the journey—together.
